The main objective of the proposed Symposium is to help spur and expand the study and research in the field of reliability engineering and risk management in Taiwan and the neighboring countries, and to encourage the wider implementation of reliability concepts and principles in the planning, design, and operation of engineering systems throughout the region. As many countries in the region are continuing their development of major infrastructure systems, including long-span bridges, high-speed rail system, super roadways, and high-rise buildings, there is increasing recognition of the importance of the safety and reliability of these systems in order to ensure their life-cycle performance and sustainability of mega-systems.
Scope and Coverage
The Symposium is intended to provide a forum for presenting the state-of-art and recent advances in the field of reliability engineering and risk management, as well as to show-case the varied applications in major areas of engineering including structural and building engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering and water resources, marine engineering, nuclear power engineering, transportation engineering, and of infrastructure systems in general.
Both recent and emerging results of research in reliability engineering, and new or innovative applications of reliability and risk principles are encouraged and will be discussed at the Symposium. The target audience will include academic researchers, university instructors/lecturers of reliability engineering, professional engineers in industry and government, managers in industry, and students in engineering and the sciences.
